A few weeks later, Ismail, the head of Iran’s Quds Force, came out
After several weeks, Ismail Kani, the commander in chief of Iran’s Quds Force, came out. Israel attacked Lebanon last month. Hezbollah-head Hassan Nasrullah and the commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, Brigadier General Abbas Nilforushan, were killed. Since then Ismail Kani could not be traced. After putting an end to various speculations, he was finally seen at the funeral of General Abbas Nilforushan on Tuesday.
Abbas Nilforushan’s funeral was held at Imam Hossein Square in central Tehran on Tuesday morning. Ismail appeared there in the green military uniform of the Revolutionary Guards. Iranian state television broadcast the funeral ceremony live.
The Quds Force is the foreign branch of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. The branch works with pro-Iranian armed groups across the Middle East.
After Ismail Kani has not appeared in public for some time, some media reports say that he has been targeted in Israeli attacks in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, after the funeral at Imam Hossain Square, Abbas Nilforushan’s coffin was taken through the road to Tehran. At that time the roads were crowded. Thousands of people attended his funeral. Many of them carry Hezbollah banners and Iranian and Palestinian flags. At that time, they chanted ‘I want the destruction of Israel’.
Another funeral for Abbas Nilforushan will be held in Iran’s holy city of Mashdad on Wednesday. He will then be buried in his hometown of Isfahan on Thursday.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday that the Islamic Republic would use “all its might” to hold Israel accountable for the death.
