Sedition case against Imran also PTI leaders

His party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been holding mass protests across the country demanding the release of Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan. Meanwhile, the police have filed sedition and terrorism cases in Lahore and Rawalpindi against PTI founder chairman Imran Khan and senior leaders of the party due to the protests in Islamabad.

 

Apart from Imran Khan, senior PTI leader Hammad Azhar, Salman Akram Raza, Ghulam Mohiuddin, MPA Shahbaz, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Sheikh Imtiaz, Ali Imtiaz, Sabbir Gujar are named in the police FIR.

 

According to the FIR, Imran Khan, who is incarcerated in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, has been given extraordinary facilities. He is able to communicate with the leaders and workers of the party. It is claimed in the FIR that Imran is inciting party leaders and workers to commit violence against the state from prison. As a result, PTI leaders and activists are doing anti-state slogans and vandalism. Police constable Bilal was injured due to their beating. Police arrested 16 PTI leaders and workers from the spot. Action is being taken against them.

 

Apart from the sedition case, several other cases have been filed against PTI leaders and activists for protesting in Islamabad by violating Article 144.

 

Apart from Islamabad, separate cases have been filed against PTI leaders and activists in Lahore’s Millat Park and Hanjarwal police stations. ASI Akil of the police filed a case against 20 workers of PTI in Hanjarwal. Sub Inspector Hafiz Imran filed a case against 10 leaders and workers at Millat Park police station.

 

Meanwhile, legal action has been taken against PTI leaders and workers along with police arrests. A case has been filed against 300 PTI leaders and workers in Rawalpindi. In this case, the names of senior leaders and activists who participated in the protest in Islamabad have been added.

 

The case has been filed in Nessarabad Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Apart from this, charges of criminal conspiracy and inflammatory speech have also been brought. Police say Imran Khan and important leaders of Rawalpindi have been named in the FIR for aiding and abetting the crime. The case has been sent to the in-charge investigation department for investigation.

 

According to the FIR filed by Police Sub Inspector Mehbub Rahman, the PTI chairman and local leaders are planning to topple the government and are implementing their agenda through violent means.

 

Imran’s two sisters are on remand

Imran Khan’s two sisters Alima Khan and Uzma Khan were arrested by the police last Friday on charges of terrorism during the protest in Islamabad along with PTI leaders and activists. They were taken to court last Sunday and asked for a 20-day remand. The court granted them a one-day remand. Apart from this, on Monday, the court sent nine women workers of PTI to Adiala jail.
