Tofazzal was beaten up in three rounds, involving at least 15 people, 6 Student’s Confession

 

Six students of the university have given a statement in court admitting responsibility for beating Tofazzal Hossain (32) to death in the guest room of Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall of Dhaka University. Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Magistrate Saddam Hossain recorded the confessional statements of these six students from Friday afternoon. Later they were sent to jail around 9 pm.

 

Related sources say that according to the statement of six students, 15 to 20 people participated in Tofazzal Hossain’s murder. They have revealed everyone’s name. The students said Tofazzal was beaten three times on suspicion of being a thief.

 

The six students who confessed in court are, Md. Jalal Mia, Suman Mia, Md. Mottakin Sakin, Al Hussain Sajjad, Ahsanullah and Wajibul Alam. All of them are resident students of Fazlul Haque Hall.

 

According to the concerned sources, in the confessional statement, all the six students said that on September 18, six students’ mobile phones and wallets were stolen. Tofazzal entered the field through the gate of the hall around eight o’clock that night. Then some students arrested him on suspicion of being a thief and took him to the guest room of the hall. Later he was beaten with a stump in the name of interrogation. He was then taken to the canteen of the hall and served dinner. After eating, some students brought him to the guest room of the hall and beat him up.

 

In three phases, 15 to 20 students were involved in beating Tofazzal. In the statement, those six students revealed the names of all those involved in Tofajjal’s murder. The accused said that after the beating in the guest room that day, some resident teachers of the hall took Tofazzal to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Later they came to know that Tofazzal died while undergoing treatment.

 

Police arrested six students yesterday from Fazlul Haque Hall for their involvement in the incident.
